I am a Certified Dementia Care Specialist (ECDCS)

When you or your loved one receives a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease or another type of dementia, it is easy to feel like you are alone in this new world. Though the World Health Organization reports that approximately 10 million people receive a new dementia diagnosis each year, having dementia arrive at your family's doorstep still feels quite lonely. Fortunately, there are resources for dementia caregivers.

Hello, my name is Debbie Lanning. I'd like to assist you in accessing community resources and ensuring education is readily available to you to help you through this time.

Studies show that early intervention improved social support, fewer symptoms of depression and delayed nursing home placement.

Did you know that Indiana boasts an active chapter of the Alzheimer's Association and that there are multiple ways to connect with community resources? There are advocates for dementia research and ways to connect with others who have traveled the road you are currently traveling. There are facilitated support groups, virtual education classes, telephone educational resources. Many counties in Indiana have County Senior Services department with specialized assistance for family caregivers.

There may be many different dementia care resources in your local area, but they are not all created equal and it can be very challenging to determine what services are most appropriate for your family's needs.

When you are searching for dementia care resources, education, and support in your community, it's important to ensure that you look for specially trained staff members who have experience working with the challenges dementia can bring. As a memory care consultant with specialization in dementia care, I bring over 10 years of experience to families navigating the unique challenges of Alzheimer's, dementia, and age-related cognitive decline. Several years ago my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's as well and I am committed to providing your family with care that puts your needs and dignity at the center of the experience.

To learn more about how I can assist you in finding solutions for your loved one before an emergency or crisis occurs, please call me to schedule a consultation so that I can help you make the best decisions for you and your family.
